Listen to your woman

Listening practice!

When Osho said, “Only the one who knows how to meditate knows how to listen. And vice versa, only the one who knows how to listen knows how to meditate,” he pointed to the deep connection between true listening and presence, which is essential when listening to your female partner.

As a man, you need to understand that listening to your woman requires the same depth and discipline as meditation. When you fall back behind the mind and remain rested in awareness then you are in that state of non-interference - and hence; non-reactivity and fully present. It’s not about fixing things or offering solutions right away (reactivity) - it’s about being in the now and allowing her to express herself fully. And let me tell you, she will know when you are present or not - females have a magical sense for these things. :)

This is a powerful practice for a man; one that offers rich opportunities for self-reflection and introspection. As you listen, observe what your mind does with the things being said. Do you want to react, judge, or fix? Notice those impulses, and instead of acting on them, relax into the vast stillness underneath and just feel the sensations. This can be a very gratifying experience - watching yourself remain steady and calm while emotions swirl around you, yet remaining in your deeper stillness. It’s not just about supporting her; it’s also about deepening your understanding of yourself.

It’s a powerful masculine practice. Being the container for your partner. By listening in this way, you’re training yourself to stay rested in awareness while offering her the space to release her world to you. It’s an opportunity to grow stronger, more centered, and more connected - both to her and to your own inner stillness.

About Gibster

You’ll find writings on non-duality, self-realization, Zen, Tantra and related topics here. My aim is to make these profound subjects approachable and digestible. I’ve found much of the literature abstract and inaccessible; understanding should be within everyone’s reach.

I’m a self-development addict; it’s fascinating to take yourself as the research object. I’ve explored various self-development trainings and retreats: primal therapy, shadow work, breath work, menswork, concentration meditation, etc. In the last decade, my main teachings come from Rinzai Zen under various teachers (mostly indebted to Jun Po Dennis Kelly Roshi - my most important teacher), and Tantra (various schools).

Always open to feedback and questions!
