Don't do. Be.

The ‘doing’ will follow naturally

“Don’t do. Be. The ‘doing’ will follow naturally”

This points to the shift from ‘doing’ to simply resting in presence. When you ‘are’—there is nothing else but ‘being’—you enter a state of non-interference, where you’re not trying to control or force anything.

In this openness, the Universe/God/Consciousness/whatever-you-want-to-call-it flows through you effortlessly, guiding your actions in such a way that they feel natural and even magical. This is also the space where your intuition resides.

In a state of being, you allow life to unfold as it is, letting the deeper intelligence of existence express itself through you. The ‘doing’ arises on its own, not from effort, mind, or willpower, but as a natural extension of being fully present—just being what you are.

This is the essence of letting go and allowing actions to emerge spontaneously. It is one of the deepest insights into non-dual awareness: at its core, understanding that ‘being’ is the source of all doing. Stop trying to control life and realize the flow of existence is already carrying you; the effort to manage it was never needed.

What keeps you from ‘being’ and forces you into ‘doing’ is the autonomous workings of the mind, without you realizing it. The thoughts you’re having, without recognizing you’re having them, act as a veil that covers the realization of your true state of ‘being.’ The constant stream of noise that pulls you away from the present moment.

About Gibster

You’ll find writings on non-duality, self-realization, Zen, Tantra and related topics here. My aim is to make these profound subjects approachable and digestible. I’ve found much of the literature abstract and inaccessible; understanding should be within everyone’s reach.

I’m a self-development addict; it’s fascinating to take yourself as the research object. I’ve explored various self-development trainings and retreats: primal therapy, shadow work, breath work, menswork, concentration meditation, etc. In the last decade, my main teachings come from Rinzai Zen under various teachers (mostly indebted to Jun Po Dennis Kelly Roshi - my most important teacher), and Tantra (various schools).

Always open to feedback and questions!
