We are all connected

It’s easy to forget just how connected we all are. The human experience isn’t simple or light for most of us. So many people, perhaps even you, find themselves weighed down by heavy thoughts and tangled emotions, feeling trapped in a mental space dominated by fear, judgment, or negativity.

The mind, in its attempts to protect you, creates layer upon layer of defenses. It evolved to keep you safe by constantly scanning for threats, so it makes sense that the negative talk persists, keeping you on guard. But now, this survival mechanism often leaves you feeling isolated and separate. The ego’s chatter reinforces this sense of disconnection, but that’s not who you truly are.

Beneath all that noise lies stillness - a deep, ever-present calm. When you are in touch with this stillness, you can be like a steady rock in a wild sea, offering a place where others can find rest and refuge. Simply being present, offering a genuine smile, or listening with full attention can make a meaningful impact. These small, compassionate acts are like a light breaking through someone’s fog, gently reminding them of their own connection to something deeper.

And, when you feel stuck, when the ego has its grip on you, shift your focus outward. The ego is self-centered and thrives on keeping your attention inward; you break the spell by helping others. Support someone, extend a gesture of kindness, or create moments of connection. Shifting your attention from yourself to others restores purpose and presence. All the scientific research just confirms this: love and kindness reconnect you to your humanity and the simple joy of being.

About Gibster

You’ll find writings on non-duality, self-realization, Zen, Tantra and related topics here. My aim is to make these profound subjects approachable and digestible. I’ve found much of the literature abstract and inaccessible; understanding should be within everyone’s reach.

I’m a self-development addict; it’s fascinating to take yourself as the research object. I’ve explored various self-development trainings and retreats: primal therapy, shadow work, breath work, menswork, concentration meditation, etc. In the last decade, my main teachings come from Rinzai Zen under various teachers (mostly indebted to Jun Po Dennis Kelly Roshi - my most important teacher), and Tantra (various schools).

Always open to feedback and questions!
