A small realization insight exercise
A small realization insight exercise for you, take your time to sit with each step. It may give you a small glimpse of non-duality. Just sit, gaze and it’s totally ok if you keep having thoughts.
Look at your hand: Observe your hand and ask yourself: Where is this experience happening? Notice that the hand appears in your awareness, not outside of it.
Touch an object with that hand: feel the sensation of touch. Realize that the feeling of solidity or texture is just another experience arising in consciousness. The sensation isn’t external; it’s appearing within your awareness.
Who is observing? Now ask: who is looking at this hand? The sense of being a separate observer is also an experience arising in awareness, just like the hand and its sensations. The watched is the watcher.
Shift from the materialistic to non-dualistic consciousness perspective: traditionally, we think the brain generates experience, but that’s just a thought arising in awareness. When you see that both the hand and the idea of the brain arise within consciousness, you realize that everything, including the observer, appears in the same awareness. This is the shift from a materialistic view to non-dualism, where there is no separation between the observer and the observed.
Realize you are consciousness: everything you perceive - the hand, its sensations, the thoughts, and the sense of “me” arises in the same awareness. You are not separate from this awareness - you are consciousness itself.
